A. (R. Gualdo) This module delves into the essential aspects of the historical grammar of the Italian language, examining its phonological, morphological, and syntactic features. It explores the landscape of Italian dialects and the diverse varieties that constitute the Italian linguistic repertoire. These introductory notions pave the way for an analysis of the earliest testimonies of ancient Italian vernaculars and selected passages from Boccaccio's Decameron, anthologized in the historical grammar manual. B (L. Clemenzi) This module delves into the history of Italian grammar and lexicography, tracing the pivotal role of grammars and dictionaries in the codification of the Italian linguistic norm from the 16th to the 21st centuries. The module will explore the emergence and evolution of these tools, examining their impact on shaping the standardized Italian language. Students will engage with primary sources, including historical grammars and dictionaries, as well as consult online archives and resources.
