13191 German Language and Translation II in Modern Languages and Cultures L-11 STEFA NIKETA
(syllabus)
The course is divided into two modules. Module A (5 CFU) is devoted to the study of the history of the German language with two main focuses: 1. the diachronic development of the German language from Modern High German to the present and the analysis of diatopic, diaphasic, ethno- or sociolectal and contact varieties; 2. synchronic and comparative German linguistics of Old High German, Middle High German, Proto-modern High German and Modern High German (phonology, orthography, morphology, syntax, lexicon). Module B (3+2 CFU) covers the basics of the history of the German literary language and exercises in the translation of some passages from classical German literature.
