(syllabus)
The course consists of 40 hours of classroom lectures, divided according to the following syllabus: - Ferrous Aeronautical Materials: characteristics, properties and identification of steel alloys commonly used in the aeronautical sector; heat treatment and application of steel alloys, testing of hardness, tensile strength, fatigue strength and resilience in ferrous materials. - Non-ferrous aeronautical materials: characteristics, properties and identification of non-ferrous materials commonly used in aeronautics; heat treatment and application of non-ferrous materials, tests of hardness, tensile strength, fatigue strength and resilience in non-ferrous materials. - Aeronautical Materials - Composites and Non-Metallic: composites and non-metallic materials other than wood and fabric, characteristics, properties and identification of the most common composite and non-metallic materials other than wood used in aeronautics, sealing and bonding agents. - Corrosion: chemical fundamentals; formation by galvanic process, microbiological, stress, types of corrosion and their identification, causes of corrosion, types of materials, susceptibility to corrosion. - Electrical Cables and Connectors: cable types, structure and characteristics, high voltage and coaxial cables; Crimping, connector types, pins, plugs, sockets, insulators, operating current and voltage, mating, identification codes.
