(objectives)
A) EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES The teaching will be oriented to the knowledge of the types of automated machines and systems for the precision agriculture and livestock sector: from self-driving tractors, to variable rate machines, to robots for milking and the preparation and distribution of the diet, to drones, knowing their operating principles, applications, safety and selection criteria. In addition, it will be aimed at: understanding the computing architecture distributed on CAN-ISOBUS machines with virtual terminals; knowledge of the safety aspects in the use of machines based on electronic systems (active or passive tags on operators) also in the animal production sector and the application of augmented reality techniques in the management of the machines.
B) EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS • Knowledge and understanding The student will have to acquire knowledge and understanding related to the selection and introduction in farms or in the territory of the most suitable types of machines and systems, based on digital or, in any case, precision technologies, including robots and cobots.
• Ability to apply knowledge and understanding The student will acquire the skills to apply the theoretical knowledge of the topics covered in the course to identify critical aspects relating to the safety of mechanical or mechatronic technologies introduced and to propose solutions to such critical issues.
• Autonomy of judgment The student will be able to identify the business and local needs in terms of precision mechanization, also based on digital technologies, proposing in the most objective way possible and without being influenced by the stakeholders, the most convenient technologies.
• Communication skills The student will be able to communicate to third parties (farmers, owners of agricultural and livestock farms, public administrators, etc.) in an effective way, information relating to the potential deriving from the introduction of precision and digital technologies, motivating his / her choices.
• Learning ability The topics will be addressed in such a way as to stimulate the will to learn, in the logic of the gradual development of knowledge, the possibilities offered by the new machines and systems for precision agriculture and the advantages (and disadvantages) deriving from their use.
