Respiration and cellular metabolism: glycolysis and lactic acid pathway, aerobic respiration, inter-conversion of glucose, lactic acid and glycogen, lipid and protein metabolism. Regulation of metabolism: nutritional requirements, regulation of energy metabolism, diabetes mellitus and hypoglycemia, metabolic regulation by hormones, regulation of calcium and phosphate balance, optimal nutrition for physical activity, nutritional and pharmacological interventions to improve performance. Energy transfer: energy transfer during physical activity, measurement and evaluation of energy transfer capabilities during physical activity, energy expenditure at rest and during physical activity. Physiological support systems: the respiratory system and physical activity, the cardiovascular system and physical activity, the neuromuscular system and physical activity, hormones and exercise. Adaptations to sports training: training aerobic and anaerobic energy systems, training muscles to become stronger, physical performance in extreme environments.
