ECONOMICS AND HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT
(objectives)
The course aims to provide students with a historical and theoretical approach to the study of development economics. The interdisciplinary approach is maintained throughout the course. Modules address the historical analysis of development and the study of the main development theories that have explained the processes involved in the evolution of economic systems. Attention will also be paid to the in-depth analysis of case studies of relevance to the analysis of regional disparities (Mezzogiorno and Ireland)
The course also includes the preparation of presentations by students who, in groups of 2 or 3, will explore in depth certain topics identified in the course of the lectures.
Learning Outcomes The teaching aims at the following formative purposes: - The understanding of the relevance of basic economic aspects in the contemporary age - The essential interpretation of the processes of interdependence and globalization from the second half of the 18th century to nowadays - The understanding of the main theories of development
