The course is dedicated to two very widespread phenomena in contemporary public discourse: "false news" and "hate speech". To describe and learn to recognize the two phenomena, we will use the notions of: - emotional or patemical language (identity) - cooperative or argumentative language (public), We will see in what they differ, to what different purposes they are aimed at in contemporary public communication. The course has four objectives: 1) understand what function falsehood and hate speech have in public languages, if and how they can be recognized and illustrated; 2) know the analyzes of scholars who have tried to identify the characteristics of 'lies' and 'hatred'; 3) acquire the competence to identify the language of falsehood and the language of hate speech in real texts, 4) acquire the necessary skills to manage false speech and hate speech.
