(syllabus)
The contents of the didactic activities are oriented to provide the theoretical foundations and the basic knowledge on the main technological solutions to be adopted at the urban scale and to promote the development of a critical capacity for managing complex information connected the adoption of approaches and strategies "Green-Blue Infrastructures" (GBI) and the use of technologies, systems, components and materials for the design of open spaces and urban envelope, in an ecological and sustainable way. The course is divided into a part of theoretical lessons (40 hours) aimed at providing the basic knowledge and an application part (8 hours), aimed at verifying the correct learning. The theoretical lessons (40 hours) focuses on the following topics: - Introduction to the ecological principles underlying Natural Capital and eco-systems services and to the main challenges related to climate change and environmental risks, technological measures for prevention, mitigation and adaptation; and the project strategies to be adopted; - Classification of Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI) and Nature Based Solutions (NBS), description of the main technologies, materials and products to be used in the design of open spaces and urban envelope; - Introduction to artificial and natural materials (e.g. asphalt, cement, concrete, ceramic, stoneware, clay and lime, wood, stone and marble, brick, clinker, draining materials, advanced materials, etc.), classification principles and general characteristics, structure, chemical-physical and mechanical properties, production cycle, performance aspects, dimensional characteristics and method of use; - Reading the method of resolving certain constructive details in the context of specific projects examined; - Reading the design parameters to be used for a conscious choice of materials and products, technological requirements and applicability to the project. The application part (8 hours) concerns the development of an exercise: - Introduction to technical information on building materials and products; - Technological analysis of certain works carried out, selected to facilitate the reading of the technological solutions adopted and the stratigraphies of the project. Analysis of the materials adopted in the project, and return of technical and graphic information, also through the use of product data sheets. The exercise will be useful to initiate students to the organization of project information for a conscious choice of materials and products and to the correct graphic processing.
