MANGIONE DANIELA
(syllabus)
The aim is to understand the perspective of Comparative literature, with the assistance of the manual "Letterature comparate", edited by F. de Cristofaro, Carocci 2020, which provides an insight into the different meanings and possibilities that Comparative literature offers. Using these tools, a specific case will be examined: that of the European novel. The focus will be on its origin, with the help of R. Loretelli's "L’invenzione del romanzo. Dall'oralità alla lettura silenziosa”, Laterza, 2010 and selected chapters from G. Mazzoni's "Teoria del romanzo", Il Mulino, 2011, and D. Mangione's "Prima di Manzoni", Salerno, 2012. At least two of these novels will be required readings (in the original language or in the Italian translation): Daniel Defoe, "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders" - "Moll Flanders"; Pietro Chiari, "La filosofessa italiana"; P.A.F.Choderlos de Laclos, "Les Liaisons dangereuses" - "Le relazioni pericolose". Non-attendees will add to the programm one novel more (3) and "Introduzione", chapter I "Una teoria della narrativa" pp. 33-72, e chapter V "La nascita del romanzo moderno" pp. 195-246 di G. Mazzoni "Teoria del romanzo", cit.
