The course aims to provide students with basic skills relating to translation studies and to develop their ability to produce good quality translated texts.
It is divided into three units: 1. The first is dedicated to the History of Translation from antiquity to modern translation studies (Module A); 2. The second is dedicated to Translation Techniques (Module B); 3. The third is dedicated to the translation of texts of various genres (Module C). The course will take account of the most common distinction between "literary translation" and "sectoral translation". Based on this, both the theoretical and practical aspects of narrative translation and the theoretical and practical aspects of specialized translation will be explored, with particular reference to advertising and tourism translation.
