(syllabus)
The course in "Italian Linguistics" introduces basic concepts about the history of the Italian language and analyses texts from early Vulgar up to contemporary ages, focusing on grammatical, syntactic and textual features. Part 1. The development of Italian over time and in particular in recent decades. This first part is dedicated to the description of the formation of Italian, also in relation to the dialect, the varieties of Italian and the other cultural languages. Part 2. Structures, varieties, texts and styles. This second part is dedicated to the analysis of the formal structures (grammatical, syntactic, rhetorical and textual) of contemporary Italian, observed through the commentary on the texts. Attendance is strongly recommended.
