Monographic section: Portugal, from the 17th to the 18th century, in the eyes of foreign travellers. This course is devoted to the history, culture and literature of Portugal from the seventeenth to the end of the eighteenth century through the eyes of foreign travellers on Lusitanian soil. The reading and analysis of diaries or travel reports will form the basis of the course because, as José Saramago says, "the journey never ends. Only travellers end. And they too can prolong themselves in memory, in recollection, in narration'. The programme will be completed with the institutional part concerning the History of Portuguese Literature from the 17th to the 18th century.
