The course is organized in two parts: a general and a special part. The general part deals with: fundamental notions of law, international sources of law, European Union sources of law, domestic sources of law and the relationship between them; definitions and field of application of biotechnologies; social, economic, ethic and environmental profiles of the legal regulation of biotecnologies; The special part deals with: The international framework and the european model of biotechnology discipline; protection of intellectual property rightes and patentability of biotechnological inventions; gmo, environment, agriculture and food safety; gmo discipline of the United States in the broader international framework; coexistence (notion, problems , comparison between models).
