3. The contribution of the circular economy to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations
4. Circular economy’s principles and barriers to its diffusion
5. The value creation and business models for a circular economy
6. Indicators of circularity and best practices

TEACHING PROGRAMME
The course provides an overview of the main sustainability issues, circular strategies and environmental management.
The course aims to transfer students' knowledge of principles, concepts and tools for managing sustainability and the circular economy.

SUMMARY OF TOPICS

1. Evolution of the sustainability concept: principles and policies.
2. Europe's role in sustainability and the Circular Economy: Environmental Action Plans, the European Green Deal and the New Circular Economy Action Plan.
3. The Circular Economy: definition, principles and critical success factors, sustainable and circular business models.
4. Waste: Legislation and classification, waste management, recycling and secondary raw materials.
5. Case studies: seminars and practical exercises may be organised during the course.
