The main contents of the course are the following: - The basic issues in organizing: purpose, specialization and coordination, employee and stakeholder participation (effectiveness, efficiency, equity) - Theories concerning organization and technology (in particular information technology – IT). The organization-technology entanglement. - IT evolution in enterprises: from the support to operations and production to the support of decision making in strategy and planning. - Internal environment: managing the people. Policies concerning recruiting, development and compensation. Approaching smart working. Key competences for the digital trasformation. - The decision making process and the organization: degrees of de-/centralization, organizational levels, staff and line. Knowledge and problem solving strategies. The issues concerning knowledge and competence management. - The external environment and interorganizational relations: supply chain, networks, business ecosystems. International environment. - Organizational change, innovation and organizational learning: balancing exploitation and esploration activities (ambidextrous organization). Power, control and conflict in organizations. - Organizational implications of the digital transformation of a firm. - IT at the macro level: ITs and “surveillance capitalism”: etical and legal aspects of ubiquitous digital technologies.
