| Stone materials
(objectives)
The course is organized with the aim of training students to carry out and design conservation and restoration works of stone works. To this end, during the activity, a normal working practice is carried out consisting in the performance of the typical activities of a restoration work. The student gradually acquires: the knowledge and understanding of the individual theoretical aspects of the discipline (lectures, external visits and excursions, group discussions); the knowledge and ability to use methods, techniques and equipment (lectures, individual and group exercises); the autonomy of judgment, stimulated by the reading and knowledge of the work covered and by the application of technical practices and methodologies (lectures, external visits and excursions, individual and group exercises); communication skills with involvement in discussions and comparisons or individual interventions on the status of the work carried out, supported by informal means

Students will be given responsibilities such as such is liaising with the library staff, administration of lesson materials, taking care of equipment and conservation materials, photographic documentation, liaising with the scientific laboratories and disposal of waste. Apart from widening their knowledge base, this will help the students to get to know other teaching staff and students in other courses. Students will be encouraged to develop a team spirit and to collaborate with their classmates The course takes place over the 1st and 2nd semesters of the academic year and will involve a total of 450 hours. This will include a mix of theoretical lessons with practical experience, including visits to museums, archaeological sites, artists workshops and conservation work sites. The last part of the course is a full training worksite on an artwork which will last one month
