(syllabus)
The course will illustrate the main stages of Roman history through a selection of events, not only political but also social, economic and cultural. The first part will focus on the problem of the origins of the city, its development in relation to nearby populations, and the evolution of republican institutions. The second part will be mainly devoted to the analysis of the economic and administrative structures of the imperial age. Didactic visits to the Roman Forum, Palatine, Foro Boario and to the Museum and archaeological area of the Crypta Balbi are planned for the academic year 2021-2022.
