COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. Having a systemic vision of organizations and their functioning at various levels, from the socio-structural aspects to the cultural and psychological ones. 2. Acquiring an understanding of organizations by examining the main organizational behaviours deriving from the interaction between psychological motivations and productive instances. 3. Understanding group dynamics and the affective dimension of work.
COURSE SYLLABUS Course presentation The course aims to offer a systemic vision of the organizational reality and its relationship with communication processes. The course will start from the birth of Organizational Psychology and retrace the main topics of the discipline: Human Relation Management and management tools, man-work relationship, the psychological dimension of work and the influence of group and communication interaction in organizations, and psychological tools.
Lesson plan 1. The meaning of organization and work in different disciplinary contexts: economic, structural and anthropological aspects of the organization. 2. The organizational system and its environment; organizational variables. Structure, roles, tasks. 3. The affective dimension of work; the variables of psychological subjectivity. 4. Intersubjectivity and organizational behaviour. Culture, communication and organizational climate. 5. The managerial management of Human Resources in public and private organizations. 6. The concept of leadership, empowerment, motivation, evaluation and development of people. 7. The work group and the team; support for individual development. 8. New orientations in organizational psychology; organizational consultancy for individual development; the issue of bullying; stress; gender issues; management of cultural diversity; organizational well-being, new business models. 9. Research in organizational psychology.
INSTRUCTION MODE Università degli Studi della Tuscia is promoting the internationalization of curricula and degree courses in all its departments. Therefore, faculty members are invited to use English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in their lectures and to produce ELF teaching materials to increase the educational offer. This syllabus is part of the said internationalization process. The course will consist of 16 hours of asynchronous online video-lectures. Additional materials in English are provided on the UniTusMoodle course page. METHODS OF ASSESSMENT Oral exams or alternatively a written test with pre-coded multiple-choice questions.
