Main concepts to plant pathology Characteristics of phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi Biology, epidemiology, identification, predisposing factors Chemical control Organic control Natural substances of phytoiatric interest Main bacterial and fungal diseases of agricultural interest Study cases Harmful Quarantine Organisms
In particular: Lessons in class 42 hours: Characteristics and biological properties of phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi; attack and recognition mechanisms in host-pathogen interactions; principles of eco-sustainable phytosanitary control; quality and quarantine pathogens; characteristics of pesticides with particular reference to the active ingredients allowed in organic farming; natural compounds, biocontrol agents; biotic and abiotic factors related to the control of bacterial and fungal diseases; bacterial and fungal diseases inherent in the main agricultural crops (solanaceous, leguminous, cucurbitaceous,) and arboreal (olive, hazel, apple, pear, pear, stone fruit, actinidia) and related eco-sustainable protection strategies.
& hrs in lab: Observations and recognition (on agarized nutrient substrates and by means of an optical microscope) of bacteria and fungi, disease agents on agricultural crops. Learning of the main molecular biology techniques used in the recognition and characterization of phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi.
