2 - Mountain ecosystems: characteristics and definitions Definitions: what is an ecosystem - types of ecosystem - how to define the mountain - characteristics and peculiarities Threats and pressures (with case studies), including: forest management and animal husbandry, alien species, land use changes, climate change Parameters: communities, species, populations
3 - Species and habitats (emphasis on zoological aspects) ecology, biology and general characters of the main zoological taxa (classes, orders, species) management and conservation issues (with case studies, including brown bear, wolf, wild boar, rock partridge, golden eagle, macrostigma trout, yellow-bellied toad, marsh and Hermann's tortoises, xylophagous insects) Habitats protected by European directive 92/43
