(syllabus)
a) Training objectives
The history of museum, since its birth during XVIII century in Italy (Rome, Capitolium) and in other european nations (Louvre, British Museum), with a comparison of different methodology adopted by art history. Radical modifications in museographical criteria will be noted according to meducational mission of museum.
b) Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to:
1) present a summary of the main development of the museum history;
2) recognize and discuss the different typologies of museum and their displaying during the centuries;
3) evaluate the different meanings of international terminology about Museology in comparison with italian historical conceptions;
4) interpret and understand similar museums not in the program.
c) Program
The birth of museum in XVIII century; features of the first art museums in Italy, France, Great Britain; Terminology problems related to museum history; Communication in museums; the organization of «tutela» (catalogation and historical research) with conservation and prevention of the deterioration.
