Following the story developed in the first book of Stories of Herodotus, father of historiography, the course aims to retrace and address the causes of the Persian wars. The first book of stories is presented as a text of considerable importance. Here in the fact in the incipit (I 1) Herodotus reflects on the epochal event that he is about to examine and at the same time he proposes for the first time in the context of western literary production a careful analysis on the historie, the historical research conducted through precise criteria with the which Thucydides will confront.

Musti, Storia greca, Laterza Editore (con esclusione delle “Note integrative” del cap. III). N.B. Si utilizzi un atlante storico e geografico, per localizzare siti e regioni citati. 3) C. Longo, S. Fuscagni, Fonti per la storia greca. dall’età micenea all’Ellenismo, Firenze 1989, capp. III, IV, V, VII (= pp. 41-91 e 119-156). Tali testi sono raccolti un unico file reso disponibile presso il sig. Nazzareno. 4) G. Mosconi, Pericle, la guerra, la democrazia, e il buon uso del corpo del cittadino e Pericle e il buon uso del corpo del cittadino: l’assedio di Samo (e alcuni altri casi), entrambi in «Mediterraneo antico», 2014 (entrambi i testi saranno resi disponibili in file PDF).
