| Faunistica e zootecnia montana
(objectives)
The main objective is to provide students with the ability to carry out analysis, synthesis and interdisciplinary connections (sufficient, good, excellent), the capacity for critical sense and the formulation of judgments (sufficient, good, excellent), of mastery of expression (exposure lacking, simple, clear and correct, safe and correct). The course will provide knowledge about the analysis, evaluation and management of extensive farms in the mountain area of the main animal species and breeds of zootechnical interest. The main extensive zootechnical systems spread in Italy and the various techniques for drafting grazing plans will be taken into consideration. The course will allow, through the analysis of the components of each system and their interactions, to assess the overall sustainability level, with particular reference to environmental, social and economic sustainability. In discussing the planned topics, emphasis will also be given to aspects relating to animal welfare, product quality and related eco-system services. The main topics concerning the management of fauna and the biology of bovids, cervids and suidae present in Italy will also be addressed.
