Special focus on Ostiguy’s Cultural-Relational Approach to the study of populist phenomena. The approach devotes particular attention to the reproduction, politicization and ‘flaunting’ of ‘plebeian’ symbols, narratives and practices, at the socio-cultural (including popular culture) and the political-cultural level. All of this can become functional to the creation of boundaries between ‘the People’ and ‘the elites’, and thus to the consolidation of new, ‘populist’ collective identities.
