PERSONAL STATEMENT:
My main research interest is in the taxonomy ecology, evolution, physiology, and behaviour of animal lineages that underwent sea-to-land transitions, including intertidal brachyuran crabs, gastropods, polychaetes, and amphibious gobies (Teleostei, Gobiidae). As an ichthyologist, I also worked on the taxonomy, ecology, evolution, and conservation of Italian freshwater fishes. I have an interdisciplinary approach, using specific groups of animals and a variety of methodological approaches at the gene, organism, population, and community levels.
