Curriculum

Stefano Ubertini graduated in 1998 in Mechanical Engineering and received his PhD in 2002 from the University of Perugia. From 2002 to 2007 he has been employed as Assistant Professor at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", from 2007 to 2012 as Associate Professor at the University of Naples "Parthenope", and since 2012 he is employed at the University of Tuscia, where he was upgraded as Full Professor in Fluid Machinery and Energy Systems in 2015. At the University of Tuscia he is also the Director of the Department of Economics, Engineering, Society and Business Organisation since January 2016 and he acted as the Coordinator of the PhD program in "Engineering for Energy and Environment" (2015), Chairman of the BSc in Industrial Engineering (2012-2016) and of the MSc in Mechanical Engineering (2015) and he holds the courses “Applied Thermodynamics”, “Fluid Machinery” and “Energy Management”. His research activity has been focused on energy systems, energy management, propulsion systems, thermo-fluid dynamics and fluid-structure interaction. This activity resulted in over 150 papers in international scientific journals and refereed conference proceedings, totaling over 1600 citations (h-index=23). He is member of the board of the directors of the research center CINTEST and of the Italian Section of the Society of Automotive Engineering. He has been member of the board of the directors of the research institutes SCIRE Consortium and COMETA Consortium. Since 2005 he has been actively working on conferences and scientific disclosure activities on fuel cells, energy systems, vehicle propulsors and thermo-fluid dynamics as a member of scientific and organizing committees, as technical program manager and as session organizer and chairman. He has codirected over 40 Degree, Master and Phd thesis works in Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental and Mechatronics Engineering and he has been member of several PhD Thesis Jury Committees in Italy and USA. He has been doing editorial activity in several journals: Applied Energy (guest editor 2017-tody), Frontiers in Computational Physics (review editor 2013-today), ASME Journal of Fuel Cell Science and Technology (2008-2013), Conference Papers in Energy (2013-2016), The Scientific World Journal (2012-2016), Journal of Applied Mathematics (2012-2017), Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences (guest editor 2011). He has served as a referee for several journals, conference proceedings and scientific book publishers. He has serve as an independent expert for several funding organizations (European Commission, Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, Italian Ministry of Scientific Development, Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding, Romania, Czech Academy of Science, Czech Republic). He has been principal investigator of several national and international research projects on internal combustion engines, fuel cells, lattice Boltzmann methods, hybrid vehicles and water entry problems. He has been awarded with Best Paper ICAE 2016, SAE Excellence in Oral Presentation Award (2006), ASME Certificate of Appreciation (2005) , The Young Researcher Fellowship Award for exemplary research in computational mechanics (MIT Conference, 2005), SAE Certificate of Appreciation (2002).
