(objectives)
The aim of the course is to provide the students tools for understanding the diversity of biodeteriorations of Cultural Heritages, due to different organisms (bacteria, cyanobacteria, fungi, algae, lichens, hepatics, pteridophytes, plants). The knowledge of the biodiversity of organisms of different environmental compartments - air, water and soil -, of their ecology and adaptive strategies, is a basic skill for understanding their role in the biological deterioration and the strategy to counteract them.

For the preparation of the elaborate media project, all students of the course: 1. they will have to prepare a 5 min video. (max) in which they explain their project in English, which they must subsequently send to the teacher in mp3 format at the address melchiorresmr@unitus.it; 2. must attach to the above video the written part of at least 2000 words in word format.
For the students not attending the course : -create a folder (ex. L20 2021 NAME and share it with the teacher using google drive) -create a video of approximately 3 minutes illustrating the project -create a ppt with maximum 20 slides -send it to the teacher

Knowledge of the practices of Italian philology and related technical terminology. Knowledge of the paper and electronic tools of philological research. Direct comparison with one of the main poetry books of the twentieth century. 1) Improvement of knowledge and ability to understand text and context in a micro-analytical perspective of literary products 2) Improvement of knowledge and understanding skills applied to the textual analysis of a twentieth-century classic in a philological perspective 3) Increase in autonomy of judgment following an acquired autonomy of investigation in the panorama of bibliographic tools (paper and electronic) related to the philological discipline 4) Enhancement of written and oral communication skills through debates and in-depth seminars on formalized writings. 5) Development of the ability to learn through the consideration of texts in function of the history of the oral, manuscript and printed tradition of the same.

The course will follow the history of the Italian language in the eighteenth century, with particular attention to the role of Italian in Europe in science, theater and linguistic debate. These will be the main nuclei: historical and theoretical premises of the linguistic renewal of the Italian eighteenth century; the language of economics; the language of the theater (Goldoni and Italian for music); the linguistic debate; the influence of other European languages on Italian. Specific insights will be dedicated to the history of the relationship between English and Italian from the eighteenth century to today. A) In the first part of the course the writing supports used in antiquity for the transmission of texts will be studied: tablets, ostraka and papyrus, as well as the parchment code that imposes itself on the papyrus in a slow but inexorable passage between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. Therefore, the phases during which this new book form has the upper hand will be analyzed: medieval scriptoria and the Byzantine culture, to move on to Humanism and the publication of the first editiones principes. B) The subject of the second part of the course will be an analysis of the preface in antiquity as a concrete test bed for a philological reflection on the texts. The teacher will analyze the main proems of Greek and Latin production in order to highlight the laws and the code of a fundamental section in literary production from ancient times to today.

(objectives)
The course focuses on Paleography, or the history of writing in Latin characters from the Roman Age to the beginning of the Modern Age. Knowledge and understanding: Students will learn the fundamental principles and methodology of Paleography, the main phases of its history, as well as the fundamental notions necessary to identify the different scripts by assigning them to a specific area and era, to understand the different alphabetic signs and accessories and to decipher the abbreviations that accompany them. Applying knowledge and understanding: Thanks also to the exercises, the student will be able to recognize the most widespread epigraphic, book and documentary writings in the Italian peninsula, to place them in time and space, to read and correctly transcribe a manuscript text. Making judgments: The student will acquire the tools to deal independently with a single handwritten testimony and to deepen their knowledge in the paleographic field. Communication skills: Students will be able to clearly present the knowledge acquired and the topics covered by the course. Learning skills: Students will have acquired the ability to independently continue the study of Paleography.
