Autonomia di giudizio
Il laureato della classe 11 deve essere in grado di:
- raccogliere dati su temi connessi alla specificità della classe mostrando autonomia organizzativa;
- confrontare dati e conoscenze enciclopediche per rilevarne pertinenze e/o incongruenze;
- mettere in relazione dati, conoscenze enciclopediche e tematiche culturali indagate;
- approfondire l'attualità socio-culturale dei contesti storico-geografici e culturali relativi alle lingue studiate, anche nella prospettiva dell'interculturalità,
- esercitare spirito critico nei confronti delle prospettive offerte dalla comunicazione multimediale.
Tutte le attività formative previste nel percorso della classe 11 concorrono all'acquisizione di autonomia di giudizio; si evidenziano in particolare le attività rivolte a rilevare i mutamenti dei contesti socio-linguistico-culturali e il ruolo delle lingue nelle relazioni interculturali; la partecipazioni alle attività di tirocinio formativo o professionale, in cui lo studente si raffronta con contesti operativi specifici; la partecipazione ad attività di gruppo seminariali e propedeutiche allo svolgimento della prova finale e durante l'attività di organizzazione ed elaborazione della prova finale stessa.
Accanto alle lezioni frontali potranno essere previste, dettagliandole nei programmi di ciascun insegnamento, esercitazioni scritte e orali, attività seminariali per piccoli gruppi seguite dai docenti, attività di laboratorio (linguistico e informatico), con l'utilizzo di piattaforme didattiche di apprendimento e autoapprendimento.Abilità comunicative
Il laureato della classe 11 deve avere acquisito la capacità di:
- comunicare in maniera appropriata in forma scritta e orale in italiano e nelle lingue straniere studiate e di esporre contenuti, informazioni e idee relative al proprio campo di studi, utilizzando adeguate forme comunicative a seconda degli interlocutori;
- relazionarsi in contesti eterogenei e multiculturali scegliendo specifici registri comunicativi;
- mostrare capacità di argomentare e sostenere le scelte ideate e progettate per la soluzione di specifici problemi professionali.
Oltre agli specifici insegnamenti dell'ambito linguistico, l'acquisizione delle abilità comunicative si raggiunge all'interno delle varie attività formative, nello svolgimento di attività a diretto contatto con contesti multilinguistici e multiculturali e nella preparazione della prova finale.
Le presenti abilità sono verificate attraverso esami che prevedono la comprensione di testi, l'elaborazione di relazioni e documenti scritti e l'esposizione orale dei medesimi.Capacità di apprendimento
Il laureato della classe 11 deve avere acquisito le strategie cognitive necessarie per:
- perfezionare la propria competenza linguistica su lessici o contesti professionali specifici in relazione alla conoscenza scritta e orale delle lingue straniere studiate;
- applicare i metodi e gli strumenti di apprendimento sviluppati per aggiornare e approfondire i contenuti studiati con capacità di analisi e di sintesi ed in regime di autonomia, anche in contesti professionali, e per intraprendere studi a livello avanzato.
Le capacità di apprendimento acquisite sono il risultato di tutte le attività formative, nel loro complesso: si sottolinea in particolare lo studio autonomo, affiancato da supporto tutoriale, iniziative di supporto alla capacità di programmazione e organizzazione del tempo di studio; attività laboratoriali e su piattaforma multimediale per l'apprendimento e l'auto-apprendimento, in particolare delle lingue; attività di ricerca bibliografica e di aggiornamento; attività di confronto seminariale, correzione degli elaborati e riscrittura.
La verifica dei risultati dell'apprendimento sarà svolta dai docenti attraverso varie forme di verifica continua durante le attività formative oltre che per mezzo di prove scritte e/o orali previste al termine di ciascun insegnamento.
Dall'anno accademico 2013/14 è stato introdotto il Portfolio Linguistico (Europass), nella sezione del Passaporto per le Lingue, strumento indicativo dei livelli di competenza linguistica raggiunta, secondo il Quadro Europeo di Riferimento del Consiglio d'Europa.
Il Passaporto viene compilato in azione assistita dagli studenti con i Collaboratori Esperti Linguistici dei Servizi Linguistici di Dipartimento.Requisiti di ammissione
Per essere ammessi al Corso di studi in Lingue e culture moderne è obbligatorio essere in possesso di un diploma di scuola secondaria superiore o di altro titolo di studio riconosciuto idoneo in base alle norme vigenti e secondo quanto indicato dal Regolamento didattico di ateneo.
L’adeguatezza della preparazione iniziale è accertata mediante una prova di ingresso, non vincolante ai fini dell’iscrizione, volta a verificare i requisiti di conoscenza della lingua italiana essenziali per frequentare i corsi e cioè, nello specifico, le capacità di comprensione e analisi del testo e la padronanza di un vocabolario non specialistico, ma che permetta di ascoltare e riferire in modo corretto, oralmente e per iscritto, il contenuto di lezioni e di manuali universitari in qualsiasi disciplina.
La prova è elaborata da una commissione nominata dal Dipartimento ed è comune ai Corsi di laurea afferenti al Dipartimento.
La mancanza dei requisiti previsti per il superamento della prova di ingrasso costituisce per lo studente un debito formativo le cui modalità di recupero, da soddisfare entro il primo anno di corso, sono indicate dal Dipartimento.
Ai fini dell’ammissione, il Dipartimento può prevedere l’organizzazione di attività formative propedeutiche anche in collaborazione con istituti di scuola secondaria superiore.Prova finale
La prova finale è finalizzata ad accertare il raggiungimento degli obiettivi formativi qualificanti del corso e deve vertere su un argomento, anche di natura interdisciplinare, coerente con gli ambiti oggetto di studio del Corso di laurea.
La prova finale consiste in un elaborato scritto, eventualmente presentato e discusso oralmente davanti a una Commissione di cui deve far parte il relatore, o, anche, in un’esposizione orale dell’argomento trattato, concordato tra il laureando e il relatore.
L’estensione e le caratteristiche formali dell’elaborato scritto, così come le modalità dell’esposizione orale sono determinate dal Dipartimento e dal Consiglio di Corso di studi.
La prova finale, scritta o orale, deve comunque prevedere una parte in lingua italiana e una parte nella prima lingua straniera scelta dal laureando nel proprio percorso formativo oppure, per le tesi in lingua e traduzione o in letteratura straniera, nella lingua oggetto della tesi.Orientamento in ingresso
L'azione di orientamento in ingresso nei confronti degli utenti potenziali del corso di studio viene svolta innanzitutto in direzione degli studenti che frequentano i due anni conclusivi del quinquennio superiore negli Istituti scolastici di Viterbo e della provincia di Viterbo.
Ogni anno l'attività di orientamento universitario viene svolta anche in territori limitrofi alla provincia di Viterbo.Il Corso di Studio in breve
Il corso si propone di formare laureati con un'educazione interculturale, rivolta alle esigenze della realtà sociale e professionale contemporanea, con particolare attenzione alle relazioni tra Europa e resto del mondo.
Il corso propone tre diversi piani di studio: Lingue, culture e letterature; Lingue per le organizzazioni e i servizi turistici; Lingue per le istituzioni, le imprese e il commercio.
Lo studente può disegnare un percorso di studio personalizzato distribuendo i 19 esami del triennio nelle aree linguistico-culturali di proprio interesse: il corso di laurea offre programmi triennali o biennali nelle lingue francese, inglese, portoghese, spagnola, tedesca, araba, cinese, russa, con le relative letterature e filologie.
Lo studente potrà poi arricchire le proprie competenze con approfondimenti di linguistica generale e linguistica italiana, storia contemporanea, informatica umanistica, materie giuridiche ed economiche.
Tutti i corsi offrono materiali per la didattica a distanza sulla piattaforma UniTusMoodle (http://moodle.unitus.it/moodlel/), che permette di interagire via Internet con i docenti e di usare esercizi ed altri strumenti didattici concepiti per lo studio individuale in ambito multimediale.

(objectives)
The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). (objectives)
The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of written and oral texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

Course: Modern Languages Teaching
Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

The course will enable students to:
1. recognize the main features of Campanella's political thought in his historical and philosophical context 2. discuss particular statements and views of the author. 3. read and comment his texts 4. present their own reflections about the topics discussed in the course 5. prepare a short oral report about one of the texts suggested
The course is designed to offer an interpretation of Campanella's "The City of the Sun"

IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.

(objectives)
The course provides students with basic knowledge of the EU legal system. It is divided into three parts. The first part includes: an introduction to the historical setting of the European Integration, the description of the institutional structure of the EU, its legal sources and the main features of its decision-making process. It starts with an introduction, which focuses on the integration process through the modification of the treaties and the enlargement. It highlights the peculiarities of the European Union as a legal order and a “community of law”, with respect to the phenomenon of international organization. Then, the European institutional framework is examined, taking into account the relation between the Institutions and the principles guiding their interaction. The toolkit adopted by the Union to overcome the democratic deficit is illustrated, including the decision-making procedures for the adoption of EU acts. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

This course is designed to introduce students to the critical interpretation of philosophical-political texts, through the discussion of Tommaso Campanella's "The city of the Sun"
The course will enable students to:
1. recognize the main features of Campanella's political thought in his historical and philosophical context 2. discuss particular statements and views of the author. 3. read and comment his texts 4. present their own reflections about the topics discussed in the course 5. prepare a short oral report about one of the texts suggested

The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of oral and written texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.

(objectives)
The course provides students with basic knowledge of the EU legal system. It is divided into three parts. The first part includes: an introduction to the historical setting of the European Integration, the description of the institutional structure of the EU, its legal sources and the main features of its decision-making process. It starts with an introduction, which focuses on the integration process through the modification of the treaties and the enlargement. It highlights the peculiarities of the European Union as a legal order and a “community of law”, with respect to the phenomenon of international organization. Then, the European institutional framework is examined, taking into account the relation between the Institutions and the principles guiding their interaction. The toolkit adopted by the Union to overcome the democratic deficit is illustrated, including the decision-making procedures for the adoption of EU acts. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

(objectives)
IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.

(objectives)
The course provides students with basic knowledge of the EU legal system. It is divided into three parts. The first part includes: an introduction to the historical setting of the European Integration, the description of the institutional structure of the EU, its legal sources and the main features of its decision-making process. It starts with an introduction, which focuses on the integration process through the modification of the treaties and the enlargement. It highlights the peculiarities of the European Union as a legal order and a “community of law”, with respect to the phenomenon of international organization. Then, the European institutional framework is examined, taking into account the relation between the Institutions and the principles guiding their interaction. The toolkit adopted by the Union to overcome the democratic deficit is illustrated, including the decision-making procedures for the adoption of EU acts. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of written and oral texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

Course: Modern Languages Teaching
Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

1) Knowledge and understanding: the student must demonstrate to know the main stages in the history of translation. 2) Applied knowledge and understanding: the student must demonstrate that he can recognize and apply the main translation techniques. 3) Autonomy of judgment: the student must be able to reflect on phenomena involved in the translation 4) Communication skills: the student must demonstrate that h’is able to orient himself in front of a text in French. 5) Ability to learn: the student must how to illustrate and motivate one's positions regarding the translation of a text.

(objectives)
IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.

(objectives)
The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of oral and written texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

(objectives)
The course provides students with basic knowledge of the EU legal system. It is divided into three parts. The first part includes: an introduction to the historical setting of the European Integration, the description of the institutional structure of the EU, its legal sources and the main features of its decision-making process. It starts with an introduction, which focuses on the integration process through the modification of the treaties and the enlargement. It highlights the peculiarities of the European Union as a legal order and a “community of law”, with respect to the phenomenon of international organization. Then, the European institutional framework is examined, taking into account the relation between the Institutions and the principles guiding their interaction. The toolkit adopted by the Union to overcome the democratic deficit is illustrated, including the decision-making procedures for the adoption of EU acts. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). Learning objectives
The course objective is to present the main theories on multiculturalism. Expected learning outcomes

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

The first part includes: an introduction to the historical setting of the European Integration, the description of the institutional structure of the EU, its legal sources and the main features of its decision-making process. It starts with an introduction, which focuses on the integration process through the modification of the treaties and the enlargement. It highlights the peculiarities of the European Union as a legal order and a “community of law”, with respect to the phenomenon of international organization. Then, the European institutional framework is examined, taking into account the relation between the Institutions and the principles guiding their interaction. The toolkit adopted by the Union to overcome the democratic deficit is illustrated, including the decision-making procedures for the adoption of EU acts. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.

The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of oral and written texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. Then, the course focuses on the principles which regulate the attribution and the exercise of EU competences and the forms of differentiated application. The hierarchy, features and functioning of EU sources is then introduced and explained in its relations with domestic law. The second part is devoted to the enforcement of EU law vis-à-vis the Union, the Member States, and individuals. The notions of primacy, autonomy and direct effect of EU law are widely investigated, alongside the modalities for the implementation of EU law in national legal orders, in particular in Italy. It also gives an account of the functioning of the judicial system of the EU, focusing on the functions of the European Court of Justice in its dialogue with national judges. The third part is devoted to substantive matters, relating to the protection of fundamental rights and the role of the EU Charter, the European citizenship and freedom of circulation within the EU.

IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. At the end of the course, students must been able to: 1) increase their critical awareness of historical events and identify the historical roots of current historical-political developments (Knowledge and understanding); 2) develop autonomous research projects, as original as possible, also by resorting to the examination of printed or digital sources (Knowledge and understanding applied); 3) analyze and synthesize original texts and documents, inspired by the works of the major scholars but also, if necessary, by dissenting from their theses (Autonomous judgment); 4) present the results of their readings, obviously recommended, integrated by digital research (Communication skills); 5) understand and fill any previous gaps (Ability to learn). The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of written and oral texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.

The general purpose of the course is to understand the history of the Euro-American West throughout the long modern age (1350-1915). To this end, the course is divided between 1) a general part grounded on the study of the textbook; 2) a part centered on the recommended readings; 3) an interdisciplinary part that will address a cross-cutting theme. The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of written and oral texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

LINGUA E TRADUZIONE SPAGNOLA I
(objectives)
The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and application tools necessary for students to acquire a linguistic competence at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, while developing basic skills (comprehension and production of written and oral texts) in an integrated way. Through the use of authentic texts in Spanish, therefore, we will try to get them used to performing fundamental linguistic and communicative operations: explaining, summarizing, paraphrasing, etc. Students will start the study of translation and translation studies, dealing with the following topics: difference between translation and translation studies; intersemiotic, interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation; purpose of translation; classes, types and methods of translation; text genres and types of translation; the translation of specialty texts; translation competence, error and evaluation of the translation. Through the study of pragmatics and discourse analysis, an attempt will be made to develop a communicative approach in the use of the foreign language, thus learning to "package" texts / speeches appropriate to the context, the recipients and the purpose of the event. Students will be trained to interpret and use specialty texts, from the legal to the economic and technical-scientific fields, analyzing their lexical and morphosyntactic characteristics.

Course: Modern Languages Teaching
Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of language teaching. The first module of the course addresses the core principles of language learning and teaching; it provides a historical overview of educational theory and explores current theories, methodologies and issues for the teaching of languages. The second module focuses on the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP); it provides an introduction to various theoretical and practical aspects of teaching LSP and a detailed description of the specific (lexical, syntactic, textual, pragmatic) features of technical-scientific Italian compared to general Italian.

This course is designed to introduce students to the critical interpretation of philosophical-political texts, through the discussion of Tommaso Campanella's "The city of the Sun"
The course will enable students to:
1. recognize the main features of Campanella's political thought in his historical and philosophical context 2. discuss particular statements and views of the author. 3. read and comment his texts 4. present their own reflections about the topics discussed in the course 5. prepare a short oral report about one of the texts suggested

(objectives)
IThe course aims to provide students with translation skills by referring to specific and various translation methods and typologies. The course also aims to develop methodological knowledge from a Translation Studies perspective for the analysis of literary text and its intersemiotic translations. Furthermore, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the aim is to develop:
1) Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to understand from a comparative perspective a source text and its translations from a linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical point of view, as well as the historical-cultural context to which the text belongs, the characteristics of the authorial idiolect and the peculiarities of the target text related to the translator’s choices.
2) Applying Knowledge and Understanding: developing ability to acquire and use analytical tools to compare source texts and their translated versions from a contrastive perspective.
3) Making Judgements: developing ability to analyze and select significant texts in English to assess their characteristics and the quality of their translated versions, both from an interlinguistic and inter-semiotic perspective.
4) Communication Skills aimed to the full understanding of the texts analysed in the course, of those listed in the bibliography of the course, of notions and methodology needed for communicative interaction during individual/group presentations.
5) Learning Skills: achievement of specific competence in the field of translation analysis as well as in television and film adaptations as a practice of intersemiotic translation. Developing skills of Public Speaking to present group and/or individual works on the above mentioned issues.
