(syllabus)
- Module I (28 hours of lectures): Fundamentals of Italian philology. History of the discipline; writing media (manuscripts and prints); ecdotal theory and practices before and after Lachmann; authorial philology. In-depth study of some exemplary cases in Italian philology. Presentation of the main paper and electronic tools of philological research.
- Module II (20 hours of lectures): "Xenia" by Eugenio Montale. Genesis of the text in the history of Montale's fourth book. Critical reading and philological analysis of Montale's "Xenia," with special attention to the genesis of the text in relation to the history of Montale's fourth book of poetry ("Satura") and related variantism. Framing of "Xenia" in the long course of Montale's poetry from "Ossi di seppia", to "Le occasioni", to "La bufera e altro".
