At least one third of the lessons will take place in computer labs, where students can use digital resources directly through the workstations and produce their own proposals for application models.
Expected learning outcomes Students will know what a corpus is, how it is set up and how it is analysed; they will know the main online lexicographic and terminological resources for the teaching of Italian; they will know the methods for using new technologies, and in particular audiovisual technologies, in the teaching of Italian such as L1 and L2.

(syllabus)
The course consists in the description of the characteristics of the main corpora of Italian on the web, associated with the definition of what a corpus is, how it is built and how it can be useful for linguistic research and teaching. During the course, a number of Italian text corpora will be illustrated and analysed in their concrete functions, with particular focus on the use of corpora in the analysis of bureaucratic and legal writing and on the uses of new technologies for the teaching of Italians and foreigners. Part of the lessons will take place in computer labs, where students will be able to use digital resources directly through the workstations and produce their own proposals for application models. First, the discipline of terminology will be introduced, tracing its origins and evolution also in relation to lexicology. The processes and phases of terminology work conducted through the exploration of text corpora for the creation of terminographic resources such as specialist dictionaries, glossaries and databases will then be illustrated. Terminology extraction tools and network resources useful in multilingual communication will also be presented.
