(syllabus)
The course consists in the description of the characteristics of the main corpora of Italian on the web, associated with the definition of what a corpus is, how it is built and how it can be useful for linguistic research and teaching. During the course some textual corpora of Italian will be illustrated and analysed in their concrete functions, with particular attention to their uses for the language to Italians and foreigners. At least one third of the lessons will take place in computer labs, where students will be able to use digital resources directly through the workstations and produce their own proposals for application models. Elements of Italian historical grammar and a general picture of Italian linguistic history from the beginning to the present day will be an integral part of the course.
