TAGLIALATELA ANTONIO
(syllabus)
The course will illustrate the fundamental concepts of translation theory and practice to allow students to acquire and master the translation tools that are necessary for the most common types of text. At the same time, emphasis will be placed on the analysis of texts of various kinds, shedding light on the importance of the correct use of the Italian language in relation to these texts and also addressing the contrastive aspects of the English-Italian(-English) translation and the difficulties usually encountered by Italian speakers in the study of English (for example, idiomatic expressions, cognates, the Present Perfect etc.). The course will be characterized by a strong practical component aiming at the B1/B1+ level of the CEFR.

(reference books)
Due to the practical nature of the course, appropriate study materials will be progressively indicated during the lessons and will constitute a (printable) portfolio. In addition, students should be acquainted with selected authors from the main reference book in Italian (compulsory for the final examination), Bruno Osimo, "Storia della Traduzione", Hoepli, 2002. The authors will be indicated at the beginning of the course and the related list uploaded to Moodle.
