Module I contributes, together with Module II, to provide a knowledge of the main features of classical archaeology and the history of Greek and Roman art. In particular it will be dedicated initially to the history and evolution of the discipline, from antiquarian studies to the birth of art history and then of the modern stratigraphic excavation. Among the main artistic productions of the classical world will then examine the theme of sculpture within the Greek and Roman world, with particular reference to ideal sculpture, its stylistic phases, the production areas, the chronological aspects and the problem of the copies of Roman time. A final part of the module will finally be dedicated to the production of the Roman historical relief.
