Definition, general framework and challenges of the bioeconomy. Importance of the bioeconomy for the national economy, with particular reference to the agri-food sector. Introduction of some research conducted: consumer choices/health foods; producers choices/use of chemical inputs. Fundamentals of (bio)economics: market supply and demand, choices of consumers and producers, market in perfect competition, market power, technological innovation, value and protection of intellectual property. Economics of agrifood farms: sustainable production and management choices. Community strategies and policies: bioeconomy strategies, Green Deal, Farm to Fork, Common Agricultural Policy. Quantitative methods for analysis in bioeconomy: economic models of producers and consumers choices. Case studies: illustration and discussion of various case studies with the active participation of students.
