(syllabus)
The course deals with the preliminary study of the history of contemporary architecture, starting from the first half of the 19th century, with particular attention to the Italian, European and North American scene. Lessons will focus on the main cultural movements of the period, the architects of particular importance in the development of national and international trends, the most significant projects and realizations. The second part of the course focuses on the theme of industrial archaeology and in particular on the definition of the discipline and its affirmation in Italy, on its specificities and problems, on the main types of building recognizable within the Italian industrial heritage, on the related process of recognition, knowledge, protection and enhancement.
