(syllabus)
PROGRAM The first part of the course (16 hours) will be dedicated to the Sociology of social security. In particular the main theoretical concepts that define the discipline will be investigated: - Security and social insecurity; - Civil protection and social protection; - Rule of law and social status; - Social risk and risk society; - Social property and wage society.
In a specular way, the second part of the course (24 hours) will instead be devoted to the Sociology of deviance, to the study of its fundamental concepts, to the analysis - according to a historical and comparative perspective - of its main theories and its most representative authors: - Social deviance - Social control - Anomia - Social conflict - Crime - Subcultures
The third part of the course (8 hours) includes a monographic study on the text by Erving Goffmann, Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity (1963).
A monographic module dedicated to the sociology of gender-based violence (12 hours) will be carried out in parallel with the development of the three theoretical parts of the course. The laboratory is part of the research and training activities carried out within the project STEP - Stereotipo e Pregiudizio. Per un cambiamento culturale nella rappresentazione di genere in ambito giudiziario, nelle forze dell’ordine e nel racconto dei media (scientific director: Prof. Flaminia Saccà). The laboratory - which will be carried out through the organization of seminars and reports - will analyze in particular four topics: - The definition of gender-based violence - Analysis of national and international legislation to contrast gender-based violence - The representation of gender-based violence in legal language - The representation of gender-based violence in the media
