The course aims to provide students with a knowledge of laboratory methods useful for the characterization of materials of interest in industrial engineering, such as metals and alloys, composites, polymers. The techniques treated are mainly those of the spectroscopic type, available at the Laboratory of Diagnostics and Materials Science of DEIM department, but also mechanical tests through the use of virtual laboratories.
Spectroscopic techniques for the investigation of metal materials. Characterization of the metal alloys. Spectroscopic methods for the study of polymers. Optical and electronic miscopy techniques for the investigation of metals and metal alloys. Durability evaluation for polymers based on artificial ageing tests. Exercises on materials science to be made in the classroom.
