(syllabus)
The course is focused in the first part on the linguistic analysis of contemporary TV series in English-speaking areas. Television Series will also be examined within the field of Media Studies (i.e. characteristics broadcasting/streaming platforms, audience reception, characteristics of contemporary "Complex TV"). Particular attention will be paid to the text of the scripts, and dialogues through an introduction to corpus-assisted analysis a and workshop activities on audiovisual text, dubbing and subtitling. A second part of the course will be dedicated to the practice of adaptation, with particular attention to inter-semiotic transposition from literary text to television and film versions.
