(syllabus)
The course will go through modern and contemporary German Literature works, focusing on canon formation, alternative canons ideas, narrative styles, rewriting, transtextuality and parody, with a special focus on the so called fact-fiction literature. MOreover, the course will deepen the knowledge about a critical-theorical approach to literary interpretation and the narratological/ aesthetic approach, also discussing what "literary history should consider literary history. Canonical authors and their re-collocations, re-interpretations and rewritings, paying special attention to reception history and the history of critics, to reader oriented criticism, and the thread of Liminal Studies and Gender Studies (presenting the Cultural Studies approach in its broaden sense). The specific analysis of fact-fictions (biographies, fictional auto-biographies) and of parody and eversive rewriting techniques will be helpful to reorganize knowledge about reading habits and enhance critical abilities.
