(syllabus)
To describe and recognize the "narrative discourse" we will introduce the preliminary notions of:
- intersubjective communication;
- languages, purposes;
- discursive genre.
On that basis, the central notion of the course will be introduced: "the language of narration".
Recent theories on narration, the linguistic-discursive and pragmatic aspects typical of the narrative genre will be examined, with the aim of demonstrating that they allow to recognize narratives and evaluate the cognitive effects of their use.
The explanation will always start from concrete examples, traced in the ordinary, public, literary discourse, and disseminated by traditional or digital means.
