(syllabus)
The Module (2) contributes, together with the module 1, to providing knowledge of the main features of classical archaeology. It will initially be dedicated to the definition of the concepts of epoch (with an analysis of the Greek and Roman Greek and Roman eras), to the problems of chronology (relative and absolute), to an overview of the historical geography of the ancient world and to the terminology of the classification of historical-artistic analysis. In addition to an overview of the different architectural orders and typologies, the module will analyze the main artistic productions of the classical world: painting, mosaic, architecture and, in the context of ancient sculpture, the Greek and Roman portrait and Roman sarcophagi, with particular reference to the stylistic phases, the production areas and the chronological aspects. There will also be some in-depth thematic studies concerning problems connected with restoration of ancient artifacts.
