(syllabus)
Course content: After a general introduction of the course, the various phases of analysis and translation of each classic Chinese text will be explained. The course takes in account five topics from five different classical works. Each of these extracts will be analyzed according to the following scheme: First step: studying of the traditional characters and cultural background of the author; Second step: reading of the text; Third step: syntactic analysis: recognition of the sentence structure; Fourth step: translation in Italian.
The five topics are: 1. 8 analects from Lunyu by Confucius; 2. 8 sentences from Daxue; 3. 10 sentences from Tuyang Yue, extracted from Zhuangzi during the Zhou dynasty; 4. 5 sentences from Yanzi Chunqiu during the Chunqiu period; 5. 5 sentences from Shishuo by Han Yu, during the Tang dynasty; 6. 4 sentences from Lingwai Daida di Zhou Qufei, during the Song dynasty.
