Educational objectives: The course is aimed at providing students with the basics for understanding pharmacogenetics, the discipline that aims to identify genes and gene variants that determine inter-individual variability in response to drugs.

Expected learning outcomes: Students will have to demonstrate: 1) to have gained knowledge of the drug-organism interactions (molecular and cellular) that determine the efficacy or toxicity of pharmacological treatment and the role of interindividual genetic variability (primarily genetic polymorphisms ) in determining the variability of response to the drug; 2) during the exam it will be evaluated the student's ability to develop and exhibit in an independent and critical way the theoretical knowledge acquired during the lectures, the ability to apply the acquired knowledge for the understanding of specific cases and the ability to express themselves with appropriate scientific terminology;
