During the Twentieth Century, the attention paid by historians to the events of contemporary totalitarianism has been remarkable. The Contemporary History course intends to consider the experiences of totalitarian regimes, outlining the peculiarities of each one. The Contemporary History course will address the following issues: 1. the role of ideologies; 2. authoritarian thought and totalitarian ideology; 3. the confrontation between fascism, national socialism and communism; 4. the idea of progress and totalitarian ideologies; 5. totalitarianism and the concept of crisis; 6. democracy and totalitarianism; 7. totalitarianism and dictatorships.
