Gabriele Chilosi (associate Professor) has 35 years of experience in Plant Pathology and Physiopathology. Current work involves the use of sustainable management tools for the optimization of crop production and prevention of soil-borne and aerial diseases in horticulture, ornamentals, cereal and tree crops, with special reference to semi-arid environments. Currently, the research interests are focused on the study of the etiology, ecology, and epidemiology of soil-borne fungal pathogens of horticultural crops, and in particular the influence of local beneficial micro-organisms in the rhizosphere on the containment of these diseases and their potential as bioagents. This study includes the analysis of the molecular mechanisms that regulate host-pathogenic-beneficial interactions, and in particular, mechanisms regulating the induced resistance.
