Curriculum

Esther Imperlini is a researcher at the Department for Innovation in Biological Agro-Food and Forestry Systems (DIBAF) of the University of Tuscia. She has a degree in Chemistry, a PhD in Chemical Sciences and a residency in Clinical Biochemistry, at University of Naples “Federico II”. As undergraduate/PhD student, she carried out research activity at CNR Institute of Genetics and Biophysics (IGB), Naples. After PhD, obtained at the Department of Chemical Sciences, she spent a postdoc period at CEINGE and IRCCS SDN, Naples. In 2010-2012, she attended the Current Methods in Membrane Proteomics practical Courses at Goethe-University of Frankfurt/Main (Germany). In 2015, as mobility-fellowship “Parthenope” University of Naples, she carried out research activity at Proteomic/Metabolomic Laboratory, CNR Institute of Biomedical Technologies (ITB), Milan (Italy). In 2019, she attended, after a selection, the Functional Insights Into Biological Data Through Network Analysis training, at European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), Hinxton-Cambridge (UK). Her scientific activity is focused on the study of the roles of biological molecules using classical and advanced biochemical procedures. She used her training, first, in Chemical Science and, then, in Clinical Biochemistry to develop her expertise in the study of physiological and pathological processes in biomedical field through the most advanced methods of applied Biochemistry. Since 2006, year of her first paper, she appears as author of 43 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, including 3 review papers as corresponding author; moreover, she is co-author of two book chapter. In 2017, she has achieved the National Scientific Qualification from the Italian Ministry for University and Research to function as associate professor of Biochemistry. Until December 2021, she has received 1065 citations with an H-index of 19 (Scopus). She is also co-author of several publications in conference proceedings and more than 40 conference communications, including 7 invited lectures/oral presentation in National and International Meetings, 1 award for “young member award” at Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB) and several travel awards for the participation at international conferences/courses. Funding and research projects 2013-2016 Young Investigator’s Grant from the Italian Ministry of Health – GR-2010-2317596 Title: Investigation of the molecular bases of cardiomyopathy in immunoglobulin light chain (AL) amyloidosis – Role: co-Principal Investigator. 2008-2010 National Research Project (PRIN2007) Grant from the Italian Ministry for University and Research – MIUR–2007AE8FX2_002 Title: Identification and characterization of macromolecular partners in different physiopathological conditions by functional and differential proteomic strategies – Role: Unit Component. 2007-2013 IRCCS SDN, Naples, Italy, research lines in Molecular Diagnostics – Role: Project Responsible. 2003-2004 European Union Program INCO-DEV (International Cooperation with Developing Countries) n° ICA4-CT-2001-100059, V FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME (1998-2002) Title: Improve legume yield by bacterial delivery of phytohormones – Role: Unit Component.
