Curriculum

My research and teaching interests cover: - Processes of norm diffusion, policy transfers in international and regional systems, including the roles and behaviours of state and non-state actors; - International cooperation; - The regulation of labour migration; - EU external relations, especially with the Mediterranean and the Middle East; - Quantitative and qualitative methods. I have more than twenty years of experience in comparative politics and research on migration matters. Currently, my research interests focus on the governance of international migration, modes of norm diffusion and policy transfers in bilateral and multilateral talks on the "management" of international migration. I am most interested in comparatively analysing policy design and implementation as well as how policy transfers are administered (and readjusted) through processes of bilateral and multilateral consultations between the European Union and third countries in the Mediterranean, the MENA region and Africa. My publications have appeared in a range of peer-reviewed journals. I also created two datasets on migration policy matters that are commonly used by the research community. I have a proven track record in raising external funds (from the EU, national funding agencies and private foundations). I supervised and managed interdisciplinary research projects mobilising EU and non-EU partner institutions (in Africa, the Mediterranean and the Caucasus).
